We started this charity because we care, because we are able to and  

because we wanted to do something to give back to help others in their time of need.

 

 

We were inspired by the Good and Welfare Community Outreach Program, that started in 1955 in Verona, Va. and

they have continued their work for 60 years. Their main goal is, to the best of their ability, to help those in need when that

need is brought to their attention. That is our desire, to be able to continue in the spirit of their work and to expand upon it.

 

 

Unfortunately, there is always a need for something, somewhere by someone and we truly believe that if everyone

cares about something and does even alittle to help someone, that together, we really can change the world for the better.

 

 

 

 

We have a diverse team of volunteers involved in our immediate operations.

 

 

Cynthia Sheets, the Founder and President of CareTour, helped run the Good and Welfare Community

Outreach Program for 5 years and volunteered with the organization for over 12 years. She received her B.A.

in Arts and Communications from Mary Baldwin College in 1999 and has worked with a variety of

organizations, including operating her own business for over 10 years. And has been involved as a layout

designer and editorial researcher with 2 different publications and several businesses and nonprofit websites.

 

 

Pamela Tilley, CareTour's Executive Director, also helped run the Good and Welfare Program for 3 years.

She has volunteered with numerous charities and established an outreach program at a local nursing

home. She stepped in and single-handedly kept one local charity from going under after a tough period

of mismanagement and disinterest from the than organizational leaders that were running the organization

at the time. She was able to reorganize and revitalize that charity and thanks to her, it is still going strong.

 

 

Cheryl Bennett, CareTour's Secretary and Board Leader, graduated from Mary Baldwin College in 2003, with a Teaching 

Degree and has been an elementary school teacher for over 14 years. She has volunteered with several organizations

and has been a leader within her church community. She is very creative, organized and is a vital part of our team.
